Anyone bricked a PS3 during a FW update yet?

I haven't updated my console since 3.01, but I'm hearing of more and more people with the original 60 and 80gb models with backwards compatible PS3s are going down after the updates (most recently my cousin).

Ours is an early 40 GB model, hasn't bricked yet. PSN has been down all night, though, and we've heard reports of game data being corrupted.

Mine was a 40 gig but I changed the hard drive and put 120 gig in it. No problems so far.
