Just finished Alan Wake.

I wasn't very impressed when I first started the game. It is very linear, I ran out of ammo, and all the bad guys are the same. Suddenly, however, the story started pulling me in. I started having more fun with it.

Eventually, it started reminding me of Silent Hill 1. Many people say this is a scary game. It was creepy, but never scary. I was confused by the ending. It was very disappointing since I was so into the story of what happened. As the credits went by, I was annoyed at the end.

All in all, the game was fun to play. It was short, 8-12 hours, linear, good but repetitive combat, and had an intriguing yet confusing storyline.

I am anxiously awaiting to play this one. I don't want to drop 60$ on something after only getting 6 hours out of Dante's Inferno. Games just aren't worth that much to me anymore.

SOME games really are worth it. I borrowed this from somebody, so it was fine. I would have been mad that it was so short if I had paid for it. Plus, they have dlc that was 10 bucks for another level. Total crap that it costs another 10. I didn't get it.

The 10$ DLC thing is EA and Activision's new way to try and curb used game sales.
By putting that $10 'free with purchase' item in the new box of the game, you make it so the used version is worth $10 less due to not coming with the DLC. It IS total crap.

This is above and beyond that. They are coming out with yet another "episode" for another 10 bucks. I mean, I get that companies don't make money off of used games, but this was a really short game with soon-to-be 20 dollars in expansions. It would have been better to make the game a couple of hours longer.

This right here is why I am being pushed away from gaming. I have ZERO interest in that sort of business model.
Alan Wake, I'll see you next year when you are a Game of the Year Edition for 39.99.
Or I'll borrow it from someone.

I bought into the Kool-Aid drink that was Dragon Age's expansions and I was disappointed that by the time the large expansion came out, I didn't even want to go down that road.

I'm on.....chapter 3? I left the trailer park, ran from the cops and am working my way to the Radio tower. Is it me, or do you enjoy the parts that AREN'T running around in the woods?

I like the town parts and the character interaction points a little more than the running around parts.

Don't get me wrong...the game engine is gorgeous and the lighting is VERY atmospheric....but I want more playtime interaction and less of the same monster battle over and over again....

I agree about the town. I also liked watching the stupid little TV shows. I hate to break it to you, but pretty much over and over again, on each chapter, you find yourself in the woods for part of it. I think I dreaded those parts, and I always used a ton of ammo.

It's enjoyable and I'd love to see more of it, but it gets a little slow in the woods parts. That's why I play it at night with all the lights off. The creepy factor is the best part of those scenes. I want more story and more exploring. Like when you go outside to get the note or the paper or w/e in the police station.....WHY THE DOES THE GAME HAVE A INDICATOR ON WHERE TO GO?! Are we morons? LISTEN TO THE DIALOGUE. OUT BACK BEHIND THE STATION. How can you fuck that up?! The amount of spoon feeding in games is pathetic.

Side note:
I got monkey island and am LOVING the lack of dummy indicators on where to go/what to do....
