Anyone getting this one?

On a sidenote: I'm so spoiled. I cancelled my order since they wouldn't give me "Release Date Delivery". I even had a $20 gaming credit...

I thought the first game was, in a word, amazing.

I will totally be getting this. It's up there with Skyrim as my most anticipated title of the year.

I'll definitely download the demo as well. I really enjoyed the first one.

When I checked earlier in the day, there were 26 reviews on Metacritic, 13 of which were 100.

I had a hard time getting into the first game for some reason. Something about the art style felt off.

I should try picking it up again.

Playing this now.

It's a great evolution of the first. At the start, admittedly, I was overwhelmed a little. The move to quasi open world just spun me around. Now that I'm into it a bit more, I think it's a good direction.

This game is just so impressive on almost every level, whether it's writing, art, acting, or the mechanics.

It is SO MUCH FUN to just beat the crap out of enemies as Batman.

Open world, eh? Arkham Asylum felt a bit too linear for me, so perhaps this would be a good change.

Game done!

It was fantastic. It improved on *nearly* everything from AA.

With one caveat.

The one area where (I feel) they got worse was in the collectibles. The Riddler Trophies in AA were scattered around the critical path. There were a few you knew you couldn't get until late game, and a few you had to look for. But by and large, they were there, and it incentivized you to collect them, even after campaign completion.

In Arkham City, there are approximately forty billion trophies, and they're scattered all to hell and back, and they're significantly more challenging to get.

So, I skipped them. In AA, I played post campaign to get the few remainders I hadn't gotten during the story. In Arkham City, I'm saying goodbye to the ~250 I didn't get during the story, and just not playing any more. I'd like to do some of the challenges, but it's a borrowed copy (ah well).

However - overall - a huge improvement over the first game. It was AWESOME.
